In this sense, the journal continues to serve as a space where historical, theoretical, anthropological, educational, analytical, and technological approaches converge, within an epistemological framework that views music as a symbolic form but also as an embodied, relational, and systemic medium.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologiehttps://limateneo.com/index.php/acusfere/article/view/246Enjeux audiotactiles de l’enseignement de Teddy Wilson2026-08-18T09:23:37+00:00Stéphane Audardugo.giani@lim.it
Writings on the history of jazz education focus on the post-World War II period and the creation of the jazz curricula in the United States. The first developments in the teaching of this music largely predate this and are therefore neglected in academic research. e case of pianist Teddy Wilson (1912-1986) is singular in several respects. Firstly, he was a major musician of his time, and very early on became involved in teaching activities. From the 1930s onwards, he was an active contributor to Metronome magazine and founded his own jazz school. He later published a jazz piano method and taught at the Juilliard School in New York. His career illustrates the wide range of players involved in jazz education, before and after the war. Teddy Wilson’s pedagogical reections on the content and methods of learning are of the utmost importance. Harmonic and rhythmic know-how are detailed from the perspective of their improvisational implementation. Sound technologies (records, radio) are used as pedagogical tools, for their ability to transmit the autographed values of performance. The Theory of Audiotactile Music helps to identify the issues at stake in its teaching, which are still central to jazz pedagogy. Teddy Wilson’s role and infuence in the history of teaching thus deserve to be reconsidered.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologiehttps://limateneo.com/index.php/acusfere/article/view/247Tutela e valorizzazione dei patrimoni sonori e audiovisivi di interesse etnomusicologico in Italia2026-08-18T09:34:08+00:00Costantino Vecchiugo.giani@lim.it
The role of the archives is one of the key issues in contemporary ethnomusicological discourse. The development of digital sound and audiovisual media, followed by the rise of the internet, has opened up new opportunities for the use and dissemination of archival recordings, making them, potentially, increasingly valuable sources in today’s musical cultural processes, both in research and performance. However, preserving and enhancing these materials—through media conservation, digitisation, cataloguing, and managing ethical and legal challenges related to access—has proven to be particularly complex and costly for cultural institutions worldwide. As a result, a significant portion of the recordings they hold remains largely unknown and dicult to access. This article examines the current state of sound and audiovisual archives of ethnomusicological interest in Italy, drawing on a nationwide mapping of archives and an in-depth analysis of specific case studies. It provides a concise overview of key aspects of the national landscape, particularly regarding cataloguing, digitization, and access, while also considering the crucial role that economic, technical, and human resources play in these processes. The analysis is accompanied by proposals aimed at fostering development in this field, as well as reections on the relationship between Italian ethnomusicology and archival practices.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologiehttps://limateneo.com/index.php/acusfere/article/view/248Mediazioni sonoro-musicali della didattica museale2026-08-18T09:41:19+00:00Daniela Mundaugo.giani@lim.it
This paper addresses the topic of museum education and heritage learning for preschool and primary school children through practices in which music fosters extra-musical skills and competences. The case study concerns a sound workshop held at the Museo Ittico of San Benedetto del Tronto, based on the application of concepts and methods drawn from the Theory of Audiotactile Music (TMA) combined with the use of new technologies, specifically AI-based tools.
The article analyses the different operational phases of the workshop, carried out with children aged 3–5 and pupils aged 6–10. In the first phase, starting from a narrative plot created in video with AI—whose phonetic soundscape components were extracted and illustrated—the working group mimicked the sounds of various environments and characters through an interaction between video and group activity. Subsequently, during the museum visit, the children recognised the musealized objects represented in the video narration by reproducing their characteristic material-timbral qualities. The aim of identifying the museum units was achieved through an audiotactile synaesthetic somatization, fostering an interdisciplinary learning experience of the documentary heritage.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologiehttps://limateneo.com/index.php/acusfere/article/view/249Qui a peur de la Chord-Scale Theory?2026-08-18T09:47:51+00:00Nathan Arnoultugo.giani@lim.it
The Chord-Scale Theory (CST) now constitutes a central issue for many musicians and analysts. However, contrary to what one might expect, the relationship between a vertical structure (the chord) and a horizontal structure (the scale or mode) is not self-evident and deserves to be explored in greater depth, drawing on several fields of knowledge. In this article, we propose to understand CST as a Pharmakon, that is, acting in turn as poison, remedy, and scapegoat. After tracing the multiple origins of chord-scale thinking from a historical and perceptual point of view, we highlight what it has been able to bring to musicians. Next, we summarize the numerous criticisms that CST has received, to which we add our own remarks accompanied by musical examples. Finally, we develop our main thesis, namely that CST is neither absolutely a remedy nor absolutely a poison, but rather a reection of a musical practice in the making.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologiehttps://limateneo.com/index.php/acusfere/article/view/250La possibile replicabilità di una pratica corale, in una prospettiva solidale e inclusiva2026-08-18T09:53:10+00:00Luciana Mancaugo.giani@lim.it
The impact of choral singing on psycho-physical well-being has been documented by numerous interdisciplinary studies. This essay aims to provide an empirical contribution to this body of research, focusing on amateur choral practice and exploring an additional dimension of social inclusion, such as access to employment, housing, and healthcare. Specifically, I will present the experiences of two individuals who, through the networks of solidarity developed within the choir Voci dal Mondo in Venice, have undergone significant transformations in their lives, going well beyond the psychological benefits of singing, with tangible effects on their stability and dignity. The purpose of this study, and the hope underpinning it, is to contribute to the discourse on the social value of choral singing. By reviewing the existing literature and presenting these firsthand accounts, I aim to encourage a broader dissemination of community music practices in Italy. It is hoped that such initiatives will find a place not only in contexts of vulnerability, such as reception centres, rehabilitation communities, day centres and nursing homes, but also in educational settings, including schools and universities, as well as workplaces such as companies and industries, thereby promoting both well-being and social cohesion.

https://www.lim.it/it/acusfere/6967-acusfere-9788855434812.html#/2-tipo_prodotto-libro
2026-08-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Acusfere. suoni_culture_musicologie
