Finalità creative e sociali nelle proposte di ricerca di studenti di performance musicale
Lo stato dell’arte nel dibattito sui percorsi formativi nell’alta formazione musicale
Abstract
In this article, I frame recent attempts in higher music education in the context of a more creative and socially engaged profile of the instrumentalist musician within broader trends in cultural and educational debate, and propose a comparison with developments in artistic research and music performance studies. Based on an analysis of the creative and social intentions contained in the research proposals of 291 instrumentalist students at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, I analyze whether and how the proposed concept of the music performer as an “engaged artist” responds to new generations of classically trained musicians and discuss what can be learned from such experiences for the role of artistic research in curricular innovation.
