Abstract

The centenary of the start of Chigiana concert activities in Siena (1923–2023) was an opportunity for deep reflection on the mission of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and its role in the history and present of music. It was not simply a celebration. Rather, it was a turning point between the past, present and future, a moment of renewal and vision, of awareness and openness. This volume of the journal Chigiana. Journal of Musicological Studies, entirely dedicated to the historical sources of the Accademia and the research they have generated and may still generate, is fully in line with this perspective.
